Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2, 2026
The short version: ScreenVow stores your email address and your encrypted Screen Time passcode — nothing else meaningful about you. Your passcode is encrypted before it's ever stored, and it's only decrypted if and when you request a reveal after your commitment period ends. We never sell, rent, or share your data for advertising. You can delete your passcode once your commitment ends, or ask us to delete your entire account at any time. The rest of this page covers the details.
Introduction
ScreenVow ("we," "our," or "us") is a commitment-device service for iPhone: you configure Screen Time restrictions yourself using Apple's own controls, and we hold your Screen Time passcode for a period you choose. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. Questions about this policy or your personal data? Email support@screenvow.com.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create a ScreenVow account, we store:
- Your email address and login credentials
- Your subscription plan and billing status
- When your account was created
Commitment and passcode data
For each commitment you start, we store:
- Your encrypted Screen Time passcode
- Its current status (for example, active, unlocked, or abandoned)
- Timestamps needed to run the commitment timer and reveal process (when it started, when it unlocks, when you requested a reveal)
What we don't collect
ScreenVow does not collect:
- Your browsing history
- Which apps you use, or how you use them
- Your Screen Time activity or usage reports
- Your photos, messages, or contacts
- The specific Screen Time restrictions you've set
We only store what's needed to authenticate your account and manage your encrypted passcode — nothing about how you actually use your phone.
How we protect your data
Your passcode is encrypted before it's ever written to our database. Specifically:
- Encryption before storage — the passcode is encrypted first, not after
- Secure transmission — all traffic between your device and our servers uses HTTPS
- Database access controls (Supabase, with row-level security) restrict your records to your own account
Your passcode is only decrypted at the moment you complete a successful reveal request after your commitment period and its cooldown have passed. We do not build or maintain any internal tool that lets our staff view or reveal your passcode.
How we use your information
We only use your information to:
- Provide the ScreenVow service
- Generate, store, and manage your encrypted passcode
- Authenticate your account and process payments
- Send service-related emails — confirming your account, receipts, and similar
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. Once your commitment's unlock time has passed, you can permanently delete its passcode yourself from your dashboard (this is intentionally not available earlier — allowing deletion during an active commitment would just be another way to undo it early). You can request deletion of your entire account and associated data at any time by emailing us; we'll remove it from our production systems, subject to any short-term backup retention needed for security and disaster recovery.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers to run ScreenVow:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and row-level access control (Supabase Privacy Policy)
- Vercel — application hosting (Vercel Privacy Policy)
- Stripe — payment processing, once connected. Your card details are handled directly by Stripe; ScreenVow never receives or stores them (Stripe Privacy Policy)
We don't currently use any analytics or advertising tracking. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy and only do so with your consent.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you're located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or anywhere with similar protections, you generally have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal data
- Delete your passcode data or your entire account
- Restrict or object to how we process your data
- Receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
To exercise any of these, email support@screenvow.com. We aim to respond within 30 days. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Legal basis for processing
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on these bases:
- Contract performance — to provide the service you signed up for
- Legitimate interests — to keep the service secure and reliable
- Consent — where you've explicitly agreed to something
International data transfers
Our infrastructure providers may process or back up data outside your country. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for transfers that require them.
Cookies
We use one essential session cookie to keep you signed in. That's it — no advertising or tracking cookies.
Children's privacy
ScreenVow is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
